This particular breath is a variation on an old-school breathing pattern called Bastrika, the bellows breath. It's been around for thousands of years in some form. It's very easy. It's a simple in-out pattern. So when you're ready to begin, breathe in and out. Going for 10 breaths total. Focus on deepening your inhales and simply relax to exhale. Relax your body as you breathe. Just about there. Fill your lungs. Breathe out about 75% and hold your breath, allowing your body to be still. You've got plenty of oxygen to support this. This is deeply relaxing for your nervous system. Notice how clear your mind has become. Now it's suddenly so easy to be present. Hold for just a few moments more. When you're ready, breathe in deeply. Hold your breath and squeeze every single muscle in your body and then let it go. Let your whole body settle down into the floor beneath you. For the next few moments, focus on your normal inhales and your normal exhales. When your mind wanders off, gently guide it back to your breathing. The next pattern will be slightly faster. Two counts in followed by two counts out. When you're ready, in two out two. This faster pattern is more intense. If you start to feel a little bit panicky, know that you can always go with the slower rhythm. You don't even have to time it with the song. As long as you're taking bigger and deeper inhales and exhales, and breathing faster than normally, it'll work. One more. Fill your lungs and again breathe out about two-thirds of your air. The breathless state is a very special place. While you're there, your mind is better able to settle. So imagine that your mind is like a lake or a pond, some body of water with waves. As you continue holding, imagine the waves settling. If it starts to become too intense at any time, take a little sip of air like this. Otherwise, keep holding and let those waters settle. Your body is totally safe. The final pattern is a simple in-out pattern. One count per breath. When you're ready, join me. Give it your all. This is the final round of breathing.
