Hey, you. When you get stressed out, do you freak out that you're stressing out? Well, some of it makes a lot of sense. The media has literally been perpetuating the message for decades that stress is horrible for you. Of course you get stressed when you hear that all the time. Now, having said that, there was a study that came out in 2012 that suggested that message might be a little bit off. You see, the study found that people who are crazy stressed and believe that stress is not bad for them literally have a 43% lower likelihood of dying by all causes. That's 43%! Completely mind-blowing. And what's really crazy is that you can actually train in this particular response and this particular mindset. Now, it's pretty simple. The next time you're really stressed out about something, rather than adding to your stress by being stressed that you're feeling that, you should use the energy. Look at whatever stressing you out is a challenge. And when your heart is racing, when your breath is picking up, when your palms are sweating, know that your body is giving you extra energy to help. It's trying to help you overcome the challenge. If you apply the energy to that challenge while keeping the mindset that the stress itself isn't necessarily bad for you, it can completely change your health span over time. So give it a shot. Step up to the challenge. And the next time you feel stressed about your stress, tell yourself you're excited and use that energy.
