Avoid getting the club stuck behind you!
As I start my downswing, I'm going to be shifting a little bit to the left and my hands are going to be working fairly flat in the downswing. What I mean by this is this club should be coming down my forearm. One of the things that I see is they start to do this and get the club underneath your forearm. Notice how my right elbow starts to drop behind the seam of my shirt. I want to make sure that my elbow stays in front of that seam as my first move down. What I want to focus on there is two feelings. One, I want to feel like my right elbow is moving forward and I'm going to do this in a slow motion practice swing. One, because I'm here, my right elbow is moving forward. Two, I'm going to check on camera to see if my club is inside. If my club is inside, I'm going to feel like my club starts down pretty flat, then it starts to work this way. If those two things are right, you're in great shape. You're going to get rid of a lot of those blocks. As I start my downswing, my left shoulder starts to pop up very early. I want to feel like I have happened, is have this shoulder stay down until the last second. Then I'm going to whip the club through to get a lot of acceleration. I'll do this very slow, getting lag. As my legs start to drive, my shoulders rotate, shoulders are going to work back up. That creates a whipping action.
