Turn Early In The Backswing! This is a common t...
This backswing move could be ruining your golf swing. Common mistake is where the lead arm will move independently, and we don't really get any rotation of the torso or the shoulders in the backswing. This then leads to often a bit of a breakdown in the backswing where we then see the arms get very narrow close to the body, and then sometimes from here we'll see it throw over and have this sort of early release or even the over-the-top move. If you're a slicer of the golf ball pitch, we see this. It's huge. It's a big one, isn't it? Imagine you're wasting so much energy, and if you're someone who feels like you're putting a load of effort into it, you see the best players in the world, why are they so effortless? This is a big part of it. We've gotta get that body working harder. Exactly, and the thing, a lot of this is down to golfers trying to keep too still. Here's a great drill that we want you to do. This is gonna engage the torso and just synchronize everything up. Place the right hand just above the left elbow. We've now formed this sort of number nine. Now, the idea of this drill is to keep this structure. Now use the shoulders to do the move away. So you'll see here, Piers is gonna swing to nine o'clock with the club head, but look how much now he's starting to rotate the body. The arms really now are just following what the body's doing instead of the arms moving independently. The great thing about this now, you can keep an element of width, and now you place your right hand on. So from here, now we can swing to the top of the backswing. We're sequenced, but now we have great width in the arms, which makes it so much easier on the way down.
