My 3 rules for using the Big A## Calendar: 1. M...
If you're going to schedule your life, how do you use the big-ass calendar? I have three rules that I do. We tweak the definition of this, but there's an old Japanese ritual called the Misogi. The way we've interpreted it is you do one big year-defining thing a year that really defines your year. If you're 35 or 36 and you live to be 86, you'll have 50 year-defining things. That's a hell of a life. That goes on my calendar first when I know what that is. The second thing is every other month, I try to take a little mini-adventure, doing something that I normally would have done on a weekend. Instead of watching the Georgia football game, maybe I'll take my kids fishing. Maybe I'll visit my college roommates. Maybe I'll go to a lecture. I want to have six. Again, the reason there is you live 50 more years, that's 300 mini-adventures you want to have. You're starting to shape. Being 85, they're like, look what I did. Versus, man, I worked my ass off, man. The third thing is the number one thing that we can do to have a better life is have winning habits, winning routines, winning mindset. Those three things. I try to have good habits. I try to add every quarter or so a new winning habit. That could be as simple as I'm never going to be late for a meeting. I'm going to drink 100 ounces of water a day. That's how my calendar starts to fill out.
