Google's Pro equivalent of ChatGPT can be accessed for free, but not a lot of people know this. So it's really for developers, but you don't have to be a developer. Just go to aistudio.google.com, and as you can see, it's a very simple interface. There's the usual chat where you can ask it to write for you, create code for you. You can upload files like spreadsheets, PDFs, audio files, anything for it to analyze, but it's got some other really nice features too. So you can actually test the different models, including the latest experimental model, which by the way is currently top of the AI leaderboard in terms of capability. You can see the token count, so you can see how many tokens you've used up in this one conversation with it, which is very handy. I don't know why the other AI chatbots don't do that. You can adjust the temperature so you can make it a bit more wild and creative in its response, or more safe and straightforward in its response, which again, I think is a very good control that other AI chatbots should probably have. You can set system instructions. You can tell it the tone and style of the output you want, or you can go further as well and create these tuned models where you give examples of what you want it to produce, and then it will do that really well. There's also a really nice prompt gallery, which gives you some ideas of how to use it and shows the best of what it can do. And finally, you can hook it up to your Google Drive docs as well. So yeah, it can't search the web, and it's a little bit sensitive with copyrighted information coming in or out of it, which is sometimes blocks. But other than that, you're using the most powerful AI tech and not paying anything for it.
