Want a fade? Move the ball up in your stance, open your left foot, and swing leftward. Adjusting your setup can help you control the ball flight.

If I'm setting up for just a standard shot, I want the ball to be basically off the logo of my shirt or my left ear. The low point of my swing is going to be slightly in front of the ball. That's going to help me to come down, hit the ball first, compress the ball, and then take that divot out in front of the golf ball. If I want to play a little bit more of a fade, I want to play it a little bit more up in my stance. That way the path can be coming back into the left, and then I'll just have the face a little bit open as I'm doing this. I'm going to drop my left foot back just a little bit, open up my left toe, and I'm going to play that ball about an inch farther forward in my stance. So if this is my stock setup, I'm going to play that ball just about an inch forward in my stance, and then I'm also going to open up my stance a little bit, open up this foot a little bit. That's going to help me to swing slightly more to the left. There is a heavy wind moving left to right, so this ball should move pretty hard from left to right if I do this correctly. Swung 97 miles an hour, 166 carry yards, and let's look at my spin, 7,600.
