In 2022, a white paper was released by ByteDance announcing Monolith, a recommendation algorithm that kind of went under the radar. It was really powerful and quickly became speculated that this is the thing that's powering the For You page of TikTok. It's actually mad advanced because it takes in everybody's preferences at the same time as yours and can update in real time as you scroll. We all know what that feels like. But as you may know, last week was kind of crazy in the tech world. They all decided to give us Christmas gifts, including ByteDance open sourcing Monolith. Possibly the algorithm for TikTok is open sourced on GitHub right now. What are you gonna build?
