AI that can take control of your computer and carry out tasks for you. No, this is not sci-fi. This is the latest release from Claude that was just announced an hour ago. It's an upgrade to their existing model, 3.5 Sonic, and it's being rolled out to the public. They basically built an API which allows Claude to see and interact with your screen, so with your computer. With this API, Claude is able to translate prompts into computer commands. By the way, they're calling this technology computer use. Let me give you an example to help you conceptualize this. Using this new API, say for example, you needed to complete a form, and the form required various pieces of information, and you know that this information lives within a certain document. What you'd be able to do is explain this to Claude, which will turn it into a computer command, and take over your screen to help basically find and extract that key piece of information that needs to go into the form and basically complete the form for you. A couple of disclaimers before you get carried away with it. At the moment, this version of this computer use is going to be the worst version yet because this is so new. They are trialing and testing this, and they have basically said that it's far from perfect, and you have to give it a couple of goes before it gets going. Second thing is that you can only use this via an API. You obviously need to know how to work with APIs to be able to use. Although they're saying that it's not perfect yet, this is one very big step towards agents, AI agents that can take on tasks on behalf of humans.
