Like the old models were more like a hammer. Th...
Okay, I know you're looking at my puffy jacket and you're like, does it ever warm up? The answer is no. I am here to give you two tips from my 25-page sub stack that I put together on Prompting with 03, the new Chad GPT model, and 04 Mini High, the other new Chad GPT model. It works specifically for these models, and the reason you should care is because these models are very, very good, but they're kind of like CNC machines. They're basically like fancy factory equipment, and if you don't know how to work with them, you don't get the most out of them. The two tips are this. Number one, you have to tell these models when you want them to stop and think, because their default mode is bias for action. I consider myself someone who heads into action really quickly. These beat me to it every time. They are pushing me on bias for action, and if you know me, you know that's nuts. They just want to do stuff. They give me to-do lists. I don't ask for to-do lists. They just give them to me like they're my boss. It's hilarious. So you have to tell them when you want them to step back and think. The second piece that I want to call out is that these models are more opinionated, and that's actually an important part of the long-term strategy that OpenAI and other model makers have. They need models to be more opinionated if they're going to be models that can work as agents over a longer period of time. You can't work over a longer period of time if you don't have opinions. And so these models think and ask questions and have opinions in ways that other models don't. Especially O3 does that. In order to use that to your advantage, you need to make sure that you ask the opinion of the model and get that out of the way early. Because if you don't, the model forms an opinion about what you are saying at the beginning of the chat and then sticks to it like glue. And if you change your mind later in the chat, the model doesn't like it as much. The model tends to like anchor back in the response to what was happening earlier. So just two tips. I can't put 25 pages into a TikTok. You wouldn't want me to. I wouldn't want to make you suffer. If you want to check it out, I have full prompts. I have lots and lots of actual examples of ways that I have used the models and been surprised. And frankly, I'm honest with you guys. Ways I've used the models and they haven't worked well, too. Because it's not a one-size-fits-all situation here. So if you want to check it out, great. If you want to just take these tips and run with them, enjoy. Cheers.
