Fasting, what does that mean? Okay, here's how it works. You ready? You have two metabolisms. One that gets initiated when you eat, and one that gets initiated when you don't eat. So you are a hybrid car. You do not work off of one fuel source. When you go without food for eight hours or more, you start to switch over into your other fuel source. It's called the ketogenic energy system, or I call it the fat burning system, because what your body does when it switches over to this other fuel source is that it starts to burn fat to create something called a ketone. And that ketone goes up into your brain. It turns off hunger. It stimulates a neurotransmitter called GABA, so it calms you. It improves your mental focus. It creates neuroplasticity and neurogenesis in the brain so that you are actually in a higher state of performance as you're burning fat.
