I think managers are, they're about control. They're about setting KPIs. They're about building a plan to get there. They're about measuring results, all very necessary things. They're about how you do something. I think leaders are about creating an environment and creating thinking, not following rules, but creating the rules. And there's a big difference. And yes, you need rule followers, but you also need rule makers. So you need to inspire the thinking in people, not just the obedience in people. Managers look for people that are smart, diligent, and loyal. They're obedient. They get stuff done. Leaders look for passion, creativity, initiative, new ways of thinking, breaking the rules.
