Reversing the Reverse Pivot! This is a term that is frequently used in golf instruction but it's not very obvious what it actually means. The "reverse pivot" refers to the spine tilting/ falling towards the target at the top of the backswing. This can cause lots of compensations and inconsistent weight shift throughout the down swing leading to all sorts of misses and bad contact. Like most things in the golf swing, the root cause lies in the set up. To eliminate this annoying little move, all you have to do is make sure your spine is slightly tilted backwards at address, tilting both shoulders and hips slightly up towards the target. This little set up tip is also essential to hit your driver well as it makes it a lot easier to hit up on the ball.
