AI agents do not equal skynet lol #ai #chatgpt ...
If I were to tell you that AI is replicating itself into hundreds of parallel agents, you would think Skynet. But it's actually a good thing, and I'll tell you why. AI agents, actual ones, not the ones in the movies, are safer and helpful when they have defined scopes, by which I mean defined areas that they can make decisions on. A startup named Lindy has started to introduce a process by which if you assign a task to an agent on their platform, and the task involves lots of parallel actions, let's say I want to do a competitive review. I want to look at all the competitors in my sector. Well, you could give it to one agent that looks at this all sequentially, does the same set of 12 steps for competitive review, and it comes back, then it goes and does the next one. Or you could get your work done faster if it just knows to replicate out temporary 12 agents, and like they just run the competitive process, then they wake back up and run it in a month or a quarter or whatever you say. That is smart, and that is actually not as dangerous as you think when you hear the word agents that replicate themselves. And I really think it's important for us to not fall prey to media narratives when we talk about AI. Because our media is full of stories about AI, and most of those stories are disasters. Things go badly would be a good summary for most of the movies about AI from Hollywood. And we love those stories. They're fun to watch. I love watching them too. But they're not realistic. The more realistic AI agents now are, help me to answer the emails, like load up pre-drafted responses of my emails. Please tag my emails into folders. That's an AI agent job. Please, can you do competitive review as I discussed? If you want to replicate multiple agents for competitive review, they're not going to become Skynet. So when I hear stories like that, and I'm like, oh my gosh, they replicated agents. My first thought is, hey, that's cool. We can get more work done. And I think we should have more of those responses when we hear about AI agents, because they're not taking over the world yet.
