Now this is why I never set up with the club behind the golf ball, especially with driver and you can do this with irons too, because it makes life so much easier. So let's talk about driver. So a lot of players will instantly start to hit the ball further doing this, because if you leave a little bit of a gap between the golf ball and your driver, so let's say your ball's in normal driver ball position, just inside the left foot, and your club is out the middle, leaving this gap, not directly behind it. You're going to naturally now hit a little bit more up on that golf ball, because you're meeting that ball later in the swing arc, to where you'd have to do a lot of work to be able to hit up on the golf ball with driver. Now you still have to work on it, we're getting some good moves with the body, some good left side extension, some good tilts in back to be able to hit up on it, but it's already going to be made way easier for you, just by having that club out the middle and ball out the front. So essentially we're just letting the club do the work for us. Now we see players back in time, like Mo Norman for example, do this, and the recent Masters champion, Drum Ram, does this as well, and it's something I talk about quite a lot on my channel, leaving that little gap between club and ball, to where ultimately there's not much in the golf swing where you can get instant results, I talk about it all the time on my channel, you have to practice to get the results, but this is something we're constantly seeing with students, the amazing look on their face as soon as they start to have that little gap, and they see these higher launching drives that really carry a lot further without them trying to put any more effort. Club out the middle, ball out the front, you're going to naturally hit more up on it, let the club do the work. Now that's what I personally do with driver on all my drives, but you can do this with irons as well, especially if you're a golfer who's really struggling with ball and turf contact. Now it helps you hit on the up with driver, it doesn't do that with iron, it actually helps you hit a little bit more down on it. So what it does, by you having the ball relatively out the front of your stance, I've got an 8 iron here, and club out the middle, leaving that gap, for you to hit a good struck golf shot here, you really have to shift your weight left to be able to do it. You can't hit that ball solidly if you don't shift your weight. So if I hang back and I don't get that body moving, I'm going to top the golf ball, I'm going to thin it, I'm going to fat it. So having that ball out the front and club out the middle with irons, you just trying to hit that ball, that's all you have to think of is hitting the ball, and your body is going to shift, that weight shift is what moves the low point forward. It's a little trick in the subconscious mind here. Just giving yourself a task and that body in the subconscious is going to do it for you. So again, if you're a golfer who really struggles with their ball and turf contact, this would be brilliant. Maybe you thin it, maybe you top it, maybe you fat it, ball out the front, club out the middle, just like Mo Norman did, that would be absolutely brilliant. Your body will shift better without even trying, but if you're someone who does struggle with their weight shift and their transfer, but you don't quite want to do that on the golf course, because I don't do that on the golf course, but I use this as a drill, there's no reason why you can't use it on the golf course. So let's say you just want to use it as a drill, by all means, go for it, it'll get you shifting, it's a great one to do just before you go out and play, it primes your body to shift, so that means it gets you to where you are going to hit ball and turf more often. Boom. You can do that absolutely as a drill. So really, that difference in where that ball is in its relationship to the ground with driver and irons completely changes the approach that your subconscious takes to it. With the ball out the front, club out the middle, with driver, makes you hit more on the up, because you've got to hit up on it off that high tee, and then we know ball's on the ground, we've got to hit down it, we've got to shift more with irons, so it's going to have a little bit of a different effect with how it moves your body. So absolutely, driver, why I don't set up with a club behind the golf ball, you shouldn't either, we've got to make golf easier, not harder, and you can absolutely do it with irons to hit more down on it.
