Shame-driven functional freeze is what i help w...
There is a very specific shame trap for the Intelligent Functional Freezer, which is this kind of person has really learned to take over responsibility in their lives and has moved towards overachieving as a way of sourcing safety for themselves, but who also desperately really wants to not have any responsibilities. And what ends up happening is you get to a point where you no longer want to have any responsibility, you want to have nothing to do, you don't have anybody that will ever rely on you ever again because you are exhausted and you are burnt out. But as soon as you let yourself actually feel that that is a desire that you want and you let yourself fantasy daydream or just daydream into that, this shame piece kicks in because who are you to want that? That's weak, that's wrong, that means you're doing something bad, that means you're not a leader, that means you're not competent, that means you can't handle it. And what this really reflects at a deeper level is this functional freeze which is this blended state of activation and shutdown that is really being driven by shame in this case.
