It's a non-profit, but it has a smaller for-profit entity, OpenAI Global, that has to be able to pay a competitive salary. It's worth $90 billion, but it sits down here in the company structure. The board of OpenAI sits up here. They were selected with the ultimate goal of ensuring safe artificial general intelligence. For the board, that goal takes precedent over creating any profit. This is where things went wrong on Friday. On the well-known Gandhi Monopoly Man Index, the board wants to be as poor as Gandhi, and Sam has two hotels on boardwalk. In terms of safety, the board is much closer to lifeguard of a puddle than Tom Cruise doing his own stunts. So they decided to fire Sam to protect their ultimate goal of safe AI. Isn't it more dangerous now that the company is in total chaos? Yeah, obviously. That's why we stepped in to protect our investment.
