Two to three years ago, everyone was talking about ChatGPT, and I feel like right now, NotebookLM is having that same moment. So let's create an account and check it out together. If you don't know me yet, my name's ChatGPT. I do non-pretentious, non-patronizing education about AI. Start by Googling NotebookLM. Google NotebookLM. So I'll click that link. And we're being prompted to create our first notebook. So I'm going to go ahead and click on create. And the first thing I'm prompted to do is to upload some sources. So the reason why people like NotebookLM is because it's a lot like ChatGPT, except you can actually upload your own documents. And it tends to do a better job of referencing information in those documents in its responses. I do have a beach volleyball business in Santa Monica. So let's see if we can do something with that. So I'm going to go over to my League website, and I'm going to copy the URL. Go back to Notebook. And then on upload sources, I'm going to click website. And then just paste in the URL. Hit insert. And now that website has been added as a source. So now I can actually just ask questions, and it will refer to information that it's found. Let's go ahead and add the FAQ page. We'll do the homepage. We'll also add the schedule page. So now we've got four sources. Let's see what we can find out. Let's give it a test question like, can I sign up for the current season? And see how well it does. It seems like signups for the current late summer season 8 leagues are closed. However, you can still join the waitlist for fall season 9 leagues. You can actually click on these numbers, and it'll open up on the side, and show you exactly where it's pulling that information from. And then down here is going to be the feature that everyone's been talking about, which is that audio podcast you can generate about your topic. So let's try it out. Because today we're going deep on the meet you at the Net League in Santa Monica. Let's do it. We're going to see if it's like the perfect match for you. Overall, I think Notebook LM is mostly useful for two groups of people. Students and people who work in knowledge industries that have a lot of documentation to swim through. Similarly, the amount of work that it takes to create one of those notebooks, like you have to know what kind of documents you want to upload. You have to go find those documents. You have to then upload them into the source. And then you got to kind of know what questions to ask. I think there's definitely still a gap here in terms of how quickly we're all going to be adapting tools like this and baking them into our regular workflows. Like for now, I'm still much more comfortable doing a Google search or just asking somebody. But of course everything I'm saying right now is what we call in the tech industry user feedback and companies like Google who's behind Notebook LM are going to use this user feedback to make these products even better and more user-friendly and more applicable for our day-to-day lives.
