why you shouldn't use Zapier as your automation platform in just under a couple minutes. So I wanna talk a little bit about Zapier and why you shouldn't use it. It's an automation platform if you've never heard of it. And it's not just because of features, although their features are not as good. So you wanna check out make.com or N8N as an automation platform if you're serious about automations and not Zapier. And it's not necessarily a features thing. So I wanna talk about something that's really more important, and that is credibility and trust as a company. Because I ran into two different things about Zapier that really troubled me. Now first is I was using a specific automation that they offered, which was a Google Drive upload module. And there was something really cool about this module. It allowed you to upload really large files from anywhere on the internet up to Google Drive. Now specifically what was cool about this automation was that you could upload a file that was 20 gigabytes, which is really kind of a backdoor because if you know much about automation platforms, moving around really large files is really not that easy. So in here is the issue. It's my assumption that at some point they realized that a lot of people were using this Zap and moving around really large files, and it was costing them a lot of money. So they just didn't wanna have this Zap out there anymore, or they wanted to limit it in some ways so that you couldn't upload such large files. And ultimately I understand that if I was a large company and I was spending a lot of money on this one specific Zap, then I wouldn't want it either. But it was the way they went about removing it that was not upfront or honest. So all of a sudden this Zap just stopped working, and you actually had to downgrade to an older version in order for it to keep working. And periodically though, they would just switch the Zap on you. And when I started to complain and when some of my clients started to complain, they weren't very straightforward with what was happening. They said that they would never switch a Zap on you without telling you, although they were. And not only that, but when I reached out really concerned about this because we were using this in a lot of different automations and I wanted a path forward, they said that they would not remove the old version of this anytime soon. And I guess anytime soon to Zapier means just a few weeks. So just a few weeks later, again, this module just completely disappeared and it was pretty much on you to fix or rush. And it was not an easy problem to fix because it is not easy to move around those large files. So again, I understand why they didn't wanna have that Zap around anymore, but the fact that you just can't trust what they say about these transitions or why they're doing things or how to fix it or when they're gonna fix it or that they're not gonna remove it anytime soon, it's just not a way to build trust with the community or as a company. Now, the second issue that I have with Zapier is around their pricing. So if you look at all the pricing across all of the automation platforms, they are the most expensive. And I mean, they are a lot more expensive. If you're doing any sort of volume with your automations, you're gonna spend thousands of dollars per year when you could be spending 100. Now that's fine. They're allowed to charge a higher price for a subpar service. But the thing that really bothered me was that in the Zapier community, when you ask around, when you start to talk to other people that use Zapier, you're gonna find that there is this underground way to get an unlimited number of automations for a very low cost. So there's this company out there, I think they might've changed their names. It was Zaps Unlimited at some point. And they basically had gone out there and they built out an account where they bought millions of zaps. And then at a really, really low cost. And then they would basically sell this to the public at a really low cost. So some people are paying a really high price. And then there's this other group of people that are just paying this insanely low price. But you wouldn't really know about that unless you kind of were in the community and just you were talking to other people. So besides the fact that Make.com and N8N are much better platforms, I also use those platforms over Zapier just because Zapier is not an honest, trustworthy company.
