A lot of people don't know this. Ankle sprains cause micro damage to the nerves. This is probably why when you step on even the slightest uneven surface, you roll your ankle. But here's the good news. You can fully recover from this even if you have chronic ankle instability. What you need are exercises that train your brain to know where your foot is in space and also helps co-activate muscles on each side of the ankle. Here's a great exercise you should try. First, you wanna pull a chair over just so you can balance. And what you're gonna do is you're gonna try to stand on one leg. Now here's the important part. You need to place equal pressure throughout all three points of the foot tripod. Most of you will naturally put more weight through the outside part of the foot. So it's really important you push more through the big toe. What this will do is force those ankle muscles to really start to activate. You'll feel it right away. And if you do this over time, you're gonna see tremendous improvements in your balance.
