What ChatGPT model is best? The chatgpt interf...
What version of ChatGPT should you be using? When you log into ChatGPT and see something like this, it is very natural to be confused because honestly, the naming conventions and the icons have used absolute rubbish. So if you find this confusing, do not worry. Let's quickly run through what they are and which ones you should be using. Okay, start from the bottom. GPT-4. Do not use this. This is outdated. GPT-4.0 is better in all ways. Then we have the minis. GPT-4.0 mini and GPT-4.0 mini. Do not bother using the minis if you are using ChatGPT on your telephone or on a web browser. The mini models are useful if you are creating software yourself using AI because they're cheaper and faster than the other models. If you are just using it on your telephone, though, you do not need to worry about the minis. O1 Pro. Now, you only need to worry about this if you are paying $200 per month for ChatGPT. And I would hope if you're paying that much, you are doing it specifically because you need O1 Pro. This is for very high-end PhD level problems in engineering and mathematics. For anything else, it's really honestly overkill. You do not need it. So that leaves us with the two models at the top, GPT-4.0 and O1. These two models are the only ones you need to worry about. O1 is the more advanced problem-solving model, which will go through complicated problems for you and step-by-step give you solutions. When you put a prompt into the O1 model, you can actually see ChatGPT trying to reason its way through the problem like a human would. It will go step-by-step and it will reason out each part before moving on to the next. Generally, this is overkill for most of the tasks you're doing in ChatGPT. Only use this when you have a more complex problem that you actually need ChatGPT to really think about. That leaves us with 4.0, GPT-4.0, which is going to be the model you're going to be using 90% of the time. This is currently the best workhorse model that you're going to be using with most of your queries. Unless, of course, ChatGPT this week released 4.5, which they might do because we're currently doing the 12 days of Christmas. But up until then, these are the only two that you need to worry about, 4.0 and O1. Don't worry about the others.
