Ben went from broke a couple years ago to just opening a $22 million dollar landscape hotel in the Texas hill country. Here's the story. In 2015, stuck in a dead end job, Ben jumped into Airbnb and quickly scaled a property management business to around 200 units. But his rentals were just commodities, undifferentiated units in an increasingly oversaturated market. Then COVID hit at just the wrong time, forcing a complete restart. And that's when Ben went all in on experiential outdoor hospitality. First he bootstrapped a 12 unit tree house resort in Fredericksburg, Texas, which he sold in 2022. And now he's just unveiled this brand new 28 unit landscape hotel. And it's got 12 spyglass units, 16 greenhouse units, an event barn, infinity pool, trails, and tons more. Getting here was not easy. Ben pitched 20 different banks before hearing anything but a flat no for his first project. And then he almost lost this project during a debt crisis, but he persevered. He's going all in on social media to build a brand to drive direct bookings. He's at 80% already, just like I did with Live Oak Lake.
