Do you want to know the biggest thing that I've learned in the last five years of doing cold showers, dips and plunges? It never gets easier. Just yesterday, I jumped in here at 4.45 a.m. 4 degrees Celsius and out here at the moment, it's minus 2 degrees Celsius. Now you'd think because I jumped in yesterday, it would be easy to jump in today. Wrong. I procrastinate so much because it's the most excruciating thing to jump into every single day. And a lot of people ask me, well, why do you still do it? I'm going to jump in and explain why. And it all starts with this. That thing is discipline. Reality is, is that this year, there's probably a lot of things that you want to get done. And to get them done, you're relying on motivation. Here's the thing. Motivation is shit. What you want to focus on is discipline. And it's because of this quote. Motivation is doing things when you feel like doing it. And discipline is doing things regardless of how you feel. So if you only do things when you're motivated, you're going to get fuck all done. Motivation is a feeling. Discipline is a thought process. I'm never motivated to do this, which is why I need to rely on discipline. And every single day that I do this, I train that discipline muscle. And that discipline muscle is to say, I know you don't want to do this, Jay, but we're doing it anyway. And if you can discipline yourself to jump in a four degree ice bath every single day, pretty much everything else becomes easy. Three minutes up. Last dunk. Every day you get to choose your pain. The pain of discipline or the pain of regret.
