For the past five years, my day job has been buying music royalties. That means we buy copyright intros, so anytime a song is streamed, played on the radio, played live, or played on a TV show or movie or commercial, we earn a portion of that revenue. Music is one of the most stable asset classes that you can invest in, making it very, very safe and attractive for investors and also ripe for financial engineering. Unlevered, it will earn maybe 10 to 11 percent over the lifetime of the catalog, but if you add leverage to it, including turning it into a bond, you can get this return up into the high teens. Diversification is also very important in music, just like it is in any other area of finance. We buy across multiple genres and regions. We own a lot of country music, electronic music, also a lot in Europe as well. Buying music catalogs is a really cool mix of both art and finance. If you want to learn more, give me a follow and ask questions. I'll be happy to answer them.
