Understanding the proper weight transfer and se...
What's up troops, Coach Whipper here and today I'm going to help you with your weight transfer. A lot of times, I don't know if you're videoing your swing from this angle, but what you're going to see is this happening a lot with a lot of people. We're already turning through and our arms are stuck behind us or you see this and you have this action. It's because we've spun out of the swing and we haven't transferred our weight correctly. So for you to have an understanding of how the weight is supposed to be transferred and the sequencing of the swings, I'm going to explain it to you. So when we get set, you should be in the middle of your feet, weight should be pretty equal, 50-50 on both left and right foot. As you swing, you load into the inside of your back foot here. All my pressure is on the inside of my back foot. I've turned my hips, I haven't swayed this way. I've turned my hips and really loaded into this back leg. Now from here, what should happen, so after I load, what should happen is then I transfer my weight. My weight then, there's slight lateral movement and my weight is now pushed, the pressure into my front leg. So from here, and then I've got to think about as I do that, my arms are dropping because they're reacting to me transferring my weight. So as I transfer, my arms are dropping. Now that I have my weight on this front foot, that's when I can turn and drive through the ball. Okay? I'm not stuck, I'm not completely, fully turned at impact, then as I hit the ball, I then allow my shoulders and my hips to continue to rotate and move towards my target, okay? So again, the weight gets on that inside back foot, we then transfer and the arms start to drop because we're transferring our weight, and then from here we turn and drive through the ball. So a good way to think about it that I explain to my students all the time is you've got to think about a turn, a sit, and then a turn, okay? That's how I make them think, because what you don't want is as you transfer your weight to your hips to do this, okay? That's how we get stuck. You've got to transfer first and then rotate through, all right guys? I would watch this a few times, it's tough to understand sometimes, but if you really watch how I'm turning and transferring my weight, it's really going to help you not get stuck behind you, help you get a lot more power, hit the ball further, and again, you're just going to be more consistent because we're going to get that club in a great position at impact. All right troops, if you have any questions on this, let me know in the comments below. See ya.
