'They're not listening anymore.' Many women in ...
Every restaurant you go into, there's a sign on the wall and there's a picture of a woman wearing a veil and it says please in these premises according to the law wear Islamic dress. And people aren't listening to them anymore and people aren't listening to them brazenly. You walk down the street and I would say just by observation maybe thirty percent forty percent of women are not wearing headscarves anymore and they're walking by the police stations. They're walking by what you would consider the morality police and they don't say anything. They've stopped enforcing it on a daily basis and that is a significant change. We saw, you know, just in the last couple of years with the women's movement where there was an uprising led by the so-called TikTok generation where these young teenage girls stood up and and said to the regime we are not going to be forced to wear this headscarf off the back of the death of a young woman, Marta Amini. It seems to have made a difference because the government, at least right now, has decided it doesn't want that fight and it is not picking that fight.
