All right, this will be a quick shoot. I mean, how many bags of trash could we have pulled off the Boston Harbor Islands? Oh, oh, oh, it keeps going. Oh, there's so many. Oh. See all this? This is just the bagged trash that's been pulled off the Boston Harbor Islands as part of the once-in-a-generation cleanup that's taken place this fall. Look, we got trash. We got just water bottles. We've got just nip bottles. And this is just what we could bag up and sort. Here's a bunch of lumber that came off of Great Brewster, Middle Brewster, Outer Brewster, Calf and Lovell Islands to say nothing of the scrap metal and lost fishing and lobster equipment. We're still trying to tally up exactly how much it is, but one thing's for certain. It took a huge effort from multiple organizations to make this happen. DCR and the Center for Coastal Studies led this week-long effort with huge support from US Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, and Boston Harbor Now, mobilizing more than 100 volunteers to tackle this cleanup, funded by nearly $3 million from multiple sources, with the bulk of it coming from a marine debris grant provided by NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. I was only able to be out on Outer Brewster Island for a single day, and it blew me away what these volunteers were able to achieve.
