Praying for those who are affected by Hurricane Helene
To put it frankly, there isn't enough attention in this country on the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. There isn't enough media attention. There isn't enough influencer attention. There isn't enough celebrity attention. And hand up, I was part of that problem until I saw the images, the videos, the stories of what has happened from Florida all the way up to North Carolina, the Appalachians, it is quite frankly shocking. We all know about hurricanes. You check in with their friends in Florida and whatnot, but that's not what this hurricane was. Now, places in Florida were devastated. Places in Georgia, like Valdesta, devastated, but you don't typically think that, oh, a hurricane is going to affect a place four, five hours off the coastline in Asheville, North Carolina, Boone, North Carolina. The devastation in North Carolina cannot be understated. And it's been this way for days. There are massive power outages throughout the South and millions of people's lives will not be the same ever again. I know I come on here and usually talk about funny stuff, but this should be everywhere. It seems like every time I go on Instagram these days, there's a new viral Instagram story that people are posting. This should be one of those. Now, has the federal government's response been perfect? No. Has state government's responses been perfect? No. I do wonder the purpose of the federal government if they aren't giving all of their resources to help the millions of Americans affected by this. There's people missing. People don't have electricity. They don't have Wi-Fi. They don't, they can't contact loved ones, older loved ones. People don't have food. The so-called president of the United States says that there aren't any more resources the federal government can give. Um, you know, there's 16 billion reasons why I could refute that, but what can you and I do? There are some amazing people right now, like those that privately own helicopters, pilots volunteering their time and fuel to run supplies to those stranded across the river due to bridge failures throughout the region. So these people are sacrificing their time, money, efforts to go across where the bridges and people don't have food here. They're trying to get food, supplies, medical supplies, um, to people that feel like the state and the government have failed them. There are other organizations like the United Cajun Navy, which by the way, is an awesome name. They are helping people get Wi-Fi. Uh, thanks to Elon Musk, Starlink, our teams in the North Carolina flood zone are reconnecting families who couldn't reach their loved ones for days. This is an organization you can support. There's the Samaritan's Purse, which is a highly reputable, charitable organization that is responding to the hurricane. Um, you can help give the U.S. disaster relief, um, $1, $2, whatever you have. If you have money, please. And if you aren't financially blessed enough to donate, which is completely fine, just spread the word because these people need our help.
