Meet Luke! This playful 3-year-old stray has be...
Today we are giving Luke a break from his kennel. Luke is three years old and came to our shelter as a stray. He's been at our shelter for more than 30 days, which means that his adoption is fee waived. The first thing we learned about Luke is that he knows sit, shake and high-five. He is also very patient when waiting for treats. Luke is currently a staff favorite at the shelter and spends a lot of time in our call center. He loves squeaky toys and is a friend to every single person he meets. Later on in the day, one of Luke's favorite people from the call center came to visit. She showed us just how much he loves toys and loves to play fetch. Luke joins in our morning play groups, but would like to meet any dog in the home before adopting. We also think he will do best in a home with no cats. After a quick snack, we went outside for a walk. We decided to go off the beaten path and explore a little bit of the nature. We even came across a little surprise. We found a ball pit that was set out to provide enrichment for dogs. After a bit of exploring and a little bit of sniffing, Luke exited the ball pit. And it was time to make our way back into the shelter. And on our way back, we took a moment to stop and smell the wildflowers. If you are interested in adopting or even fostering Luke, we invite you to visit us at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care in Swope Park.
