1038 started in January 2022, Zach Bryan had come out, he was nice enough to come out and open for me and the guys. We were playing a club show in Washington D.C. at Hill Country. We were listening to Springsteen's album Nebraska in the green room and we're both big fans of Springsteen. Then a couple weeks later he facetimed me one day, he's like hey man I want to write a song that's like inspired by State Trooper. I was like that sounds awesome. So he sent me the start of what ended up being Jamie. Then we recorded that in the summer but I loved the stuff that I'd come up with. I ended up just finishing it and making it like a true sequel to State Trooper. So that's how 1038 came about.
