Nothing screams early 2000s like a pre-finished floor in a bathroom gapped out from urine and toilet leaks. Today we are tasked with removing this crusty old golden gapped out pre-finished look. Cheap early 2000s builders love to put hardwood floors in the entryway in kitchen so they could say this house has hardwood floors. While these floors certainly aren't in style today, I gotta hand it to them. They are about the toughest hardwood floors ever made. This stuff is 20 plus years old and most of it is in not that bad of condition. We removed almost an eighth of an inch of this hardwood floor to get rid of the majority of the bevels. We then water popped it to open the grain and stained it the color birch. Here's what it looks like guys. We're going to be using a matte water-based finish. What do you guys think of this color?
