The Baltimore Ravens just made over $100,000 in four hours by keeping their stadium empty. Let me explain. See, every year a handful of NFL teams, including the Ravens, utilize the offseason to generate extra revenue with their stadium. This often involves hosting concerts and other sporting events, all of which can generate revenue but also cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, to host. But what if there was a way teams could just keep most of the stadium empty while still generating six figures in revenue? Well, there is, and it's probably one of the coolest ideas in sports. Because just last weekend, the Ravens sold out each one of their 128 private suites to fans to host their fantasy football drafts. The package, which sold out almost instantly, gives you and 14 friends access to your own private suites for four hours, which includes all-you-can-eat food and drink, as well as a self-guided tour of the locker room and the sideline before your draft. Each room also comes with a custom draft board, and the total cost for all of this is just $920. Or about $61 per person. And if you multiply that by each one of the 128 suites the team likely sold, that's over $117,000 in revenue the Ravens generated from a random Saturday afternoon.
