It's your fault that you're offended. Whatever your reaction is to their remark or action, that’s on you. No one can make you angry, only you have that power. Someone can certainly say something offensive or stupid or mean, but no one can make you upset—that’s a choice.

If you're offended, it's your fault. Epictetus says you are complicit in taking offense. The remark was objective. The thing just was. And then you decided that it hurt you. You decided you were harmed by it. It's not actually true. Another person can't hurt you. You are complicit in taking offense.
