TikTok: Entering the Second Renaissance of Intelligence

Most people haven't caught on yet, but we're about to enter the second renaissance and witness the return of the polymath. And understanding this will make you thrive in the coming era. See, today we're amazed that the same person who painted the Mona Lisa invented the helicopter. Because the industrial age killed the renaissance man in favor of specialists. Factories needed cogs and efficiency rewarded repetition. And universities told us to pick a lane. Master one thing and only one thing. I mean, we ask children to choose life-defining paths. To me, that's insane. When society shifted from rewarding the polymath to rewarding the specialist, we killed our creativity. Engineering lost its artists and business lost its storytellers. But some still broke through the cracks. The last of a dying breed. But today, the cracks have reopened for an entire generation. The renaissance man will rule the intelligence age, just like the specialists ruled the machine age. That's how I see it. Back then, the printing press democratized access to information. Florence was the epicenter, fueled by Medici patronage. Today, AI democratizes creation itself. The internet is our Florence and the platforms are the patrons. And I think individuals who lead with curiosity, exploring and mastering a diverse set of expertise, will rise to the top of society again. The renaissance rediscovered man.
