I think I've just made one of the coolest NFC tag projects I've ever made using this idea. If you haven't been following along on my recent videos I've been building this NFC tag based storage solution where all you have to do is tap your phone to any storage bin in your house and it's going to give you a few different options like viewing the contents of what's inside it. Now the way I had it set up before is if you wanted to add or remove something from the bin it was just a little text menu where you typed it in yourself but not anymore check this out. So let's say I'm gonna put this iPod in this storage bin all I have to do is click add item check this out this is so cool take a photo and then hit use photo and that's all I have to do it's literally done and watch this I'll tap my phone onto the NFC tag this one's being a little bit slow for some reason oh I hope this works for the video view contacts look at that box one all the stuff I showed you before and iPod now we've still got iPod in the list there but let's say we take the iPod out of the box and we don't want to store it there anymore and we want to categorize that all we have to do once again tap the tag we'll have the NFC menu pop up here and we're gonna hit delete item once again all we need to do is take a picture of it hit use photo and now iPod is removed from the list. Not only does this work really well but it also works with multiple items at once and it uses Apple's local image recognition so you're not going to some sketchy external AI let me show you how I set it up. So I downloaded an app called Toolbox Pro this gives you a bunch of extra shortcuts functionality including the one that we need I'll show you how it works in the automation but I'll just show you the functionality we're going to be using it adds this feature in shortcuts called the recognize objects so I just have this really simple shortcut here that has me take a picture and it recognizes the objects in the picture we'll run that shortcut and you'll see how this works we'll take a photo of that screwdriver and hopefully use photo yeah so you'll see a readout of what the item is and then a percentage of how confident it is and then we can use that in our shortcut now we're going to go back to the master shortcut we built to manage all these NFC tags you watch my last videos you don't know about this I've gone over this in quite a bit of detail but it basically uses all of the exact same prompts but before instead of where we are entering in a text box it just prompts us to take a photo so see here for the add an item it asks us to take a photo it recognizes the objects in the photo then what I do is I just append it to a note one thing you can do as well is actually select the object that you're working with and you can have it just include the percentage or just include the main object itself I just have it including the object name so there's not all that extra stuff in there and then same thing down below for the delete again take a photo recognize the object and then delete it from the list so that was actually pretty simple despite how much functionality it added I just needed to swap out that one shortcuts thing that toolbox shortcut app I showed you actually has a whole bunch of other functionality that you get for shortcuts by downloading it like it's insane like so much extra ones so I'm gonna play around with that let me know if you guys have any other suggestions for that NFC tags this is turning into something pretty cool thank you for watching and I'll catch you in the next video
