ChatGPT Project-Based Memory Update: Improved Memory Management

Feb 25, 2026
178 words
Big news guys, ChatGPT launched project-based memory, which means you no longer have the problem of having the automatically saved memories from your ChatGPT account all mixed up. I've had people tell me I don't use ChatGPT memory or I delete the memories because I use ChatGPT for work, I use it for personal, the last thing I want is ChatGPT bringing up something personal in a work chat, so I just don't use it. That's what projects does for you. You can now confine your memories to projects and it will only remember project-related memories. It will not include memories from other aspects of your conversations, which is really handy. So if you haven't tried it yet, I encourage you to check it out. It's project-based memory and it's rolling out across ChatGPT plans now and it's one of those things where I see the team continuing to ship even after kind of the GPT 5 mess and it reminds me if you don't like something in AI, wait a week and you might like something new.

ChatGPT has introduced project-based memory, allowing users to keep memories organized by project, preventing personal memories from mixing with work-related conversations. This feature is being rolled out across ChatGPT plans, providing a more tailored experience for users who have different contexts for their interactions.
