This is the number one thing I've struggled with since quitting my job and starting a business, and that is creativity. Coming from a background in finance, I wouldn't say I'm the most creative person, but part of being an entrepreneur, especially this early on, is wearing every hat in the business. I looked into hiring an agency to help me with my branding, packaging, and website, but holy shit they are expensive. I've been feeling especially stuck lately on some design elements, so I started reading this book called The Creative Act. One thing the author suggests is engaging with other art to expand your perception and spark new ideas, so I decided to spend the afternoon at the art museum. The author's point is that other art will provide answers, but rather ask questions and stir emotions. By experiencing art with presence and curiosity, you allow it to expand your perspective and feed your own creativity. I wouldn't say this experience has directly impacted my work product yet, but it did feel good to immerse myself in something completely different than what I've been working on lately. So if you're feeling a little bit stuck, this is a great activity changer for your environment and thought process.
