Would folks like more modeling skits? Parents and teachers often casting negative light on a trait that should actually be admired and encouraged as it can help the child in the long run if it is treated with respect and collaboration. Hey man, time to do your homework. No thanks, I'm good. Stop what you're doing and do your homework now. Uh-uh. Try this instead. Dude, you have a persistent drive for autonomy. That's what we call it. You really like doing things on your own when you want to do them, how you want to do them. And guess what? That's awesome. That is going to serve you well when you're a grown up, when you're out there in the world, you got your job and stuff. You're setting boundaries and you're making it clear what you want. I totally respect that. But listen, here's the deal. In order to do that effectively, you need to know how to work with other people still. I don't want to be the one telling you what to do and telling you it's time to do your homework. That's not fun for either of us. So what I want to do is come up together, come up with a way for you to find some meaning in it, some way that it can motivate you. And I get that you're not interested in doing the homework for the sake of doing the homework, but let's come up with a clever way that you can make it happen because I want you to get the good grades that will allow you to get an awesome job as a programmer. Okay? That's our goal here. I want to support you in that. So what thoughts do you have on this?
