One of the best ways to understand what is going to actually regulate your nervous system is by understanding this. It is not about trying to get rid of dysregulation from your body, it is about trying to invoke, embrace, and welcome regulation, resilience, and sensitivity. This represents a very large shift in the relationship with your body and the way that you look at your body and your nervous system because for most of us that have experienced chronic dysregulation, we grew up in a society where we had both direct, explicit, as well as implicit and invisible conditioning that taught us that any kind of symptom or discomfort in the body could be either suppressed through some type of medication or we should try and just get rid of it. This created a fear and shame-based relationship between our awareness and our body for the most part, which when we approach healing and regulation from the same perspective and the same nervous system imprint, we are often just reinforcing what caused us to be sick in the first place. So shifting away from getting rid of pain and disease to embracing and invoking health will shift it all and actually heal it.
