This isn't hip rotation. This is how you hit a slice. If you're firing your hips as fast as you can to create as much rotation as you can, trying to swing hard from the top to get all that rotation that you hear you're supposed to have, you're probably gonna hit the ball right. This is why when you rotate too early, you get out of sequence. This club gets out in front of you like this. It gets steep and oftentimes over the top. Then you have to try to save things. You're either gonna swing way left or you're gonna save it by standing up, stalling your body's rotation out, and throwing your hands. In an effort to rotate more, you're actually gonna stall your rotation out because you have to save what you've messed up at the top of the backswing. Instead, what we want to do is we actually want to feel like we're keeping the back of the target for a little longer. We're letting this club drop down into the slot a little bit and then we're rotating. A great feel for this is turn to the top, feel your weight shift with your body staying closed. A laser pointer comes out of your hips and your chest pointing down behind for a little bit. Once this club drops a little bit, then you can rotate and turn as hard as you want. It'll help you get more on plane. It will help you stop getting stuck behind. It'll also allow you to rotate through the ball more rather than having to stall out to try to time up the club face.

The video explains how improper hip rotation can lead to slicing the ball. It emphasizes maintaining a proper sequence by delaying hip rotation and allowing the club to drop into position before swinging.

  1. Firing hips too fast can lead to hitting a slice.
  2. Rotating too early causes the club to get steep and out of sequence.
  3. Stalling body rotation can result from trying to save a bad swing.
  4. Keep the back to the target longer to improve swing sequence.
  5. Let the club drop into the slot before rotating.
  6. Weight shift should occur while keeping the body closed.
