to stop trying to fix your swing if you do not grip the club correctly. Now 99% of you who send me your swings or end up working with me as clients do not grip the club correctly with most people adopting this palmy grip where this hand is weak and this hand is strong. This is absolutely terrible for you because it gives you way too much wiggle room and it doesn't allow you to get your wrists to work correctly in the swing. We get this and we get this. Big problem for many many players. So you must learn to adopt the opposite forces grip and I'm going to show you exactly how to do that right now. This is a game changer. The feedback I've had off this has been unbelievable. People saying that they're immediately striking it better. So first things first, we'll start with the lead hand. So that's the glove hand. So as we see with that weak grip the glove logo points way down towards the target line. What we want to see is that the glove logo is coming more up the arm and that really helps the arm structure. It strengthens up this arm structure. With this we see a lot of people getting the bend in this arm. We want it straight and we want it strong like this. This grip is completely in my fingers and I'm using the thumb and the forefinger for all the leverage and just at the base of the pinky as well. So that is the lead hand locked in. That is what you want. Now you'll see the v-shape is pointing to the right shoulder. Fantastic. Perfect. You also see the thumb is not underneath the grip like this and it's not way over on top like this. It's kind of on the the right side as I look down. Pressuring there. What we then want to do, this thumb is key. What we want to do is we want to pinch that thumb but we want to pinch that thumb with this pinching area of my trial hand. See the way I can pinch my finger there. That's what we want to do. So we want to bring this hand on top and pinch that thumb. We also want to make sure that we're overlapping. That is far easier to get this grip right. Interlocking, people really interlock and it makes it very difficult to get this arm over. So I always recommend the overlapping grip. Then we're using the middle two fingers as our hook point as Ben Hogan has described in his book. If you haven't read it, read it. I'm pinching with the pinching area on this thumb. Locked in. You'll also see there's a bit of a separation between the pointer finger and the thumb and you'll see the pointer finger is further down the grip than the thumb is. Almost like a trigger. Pinching, we got that. Now we are locked in. Look how much harder it is. Also this arm gets very strong in the position it's in. Locked. Arms are locked. Club is locked in my hands and it's much harder and much more difficult to manipulate that club face. It becomes stable. So what I recommend you do, this is going to feel weird. You've got to practice this and both hands must work together. They're coming on the grip, opposite forces. What I recommend you do is start with swings with your feet together. Just back and through. Just trying to keep your balance. So if you go too fast you're going to lose balance. See? So you want to keep it very smooth going back. Feeling this grip locked in and do a lot of swings like this. You don't even need to hit a ball. Shoulders are working. Body's rotating. All the good stuff we want to see. Then when you hit balls make sure that grip's locked in and just hit some balls nice and light. Not trying to whack them. You're going to start to feel the weight of the club dropping in and striking the ball the way you need to. So enjoy the grip. Any questions on it please do leave a comment and if you're not sure if it's correct also leave a comment. So cheers!
