Flipping your hands is a recipe for inconsistency golf
Here's how to stop flipping your hands over in the golf swing. Flipping your hands could be one of the worst things to think about in your swing. If you want to become really inconsistent, you can flip your hands. In order to get out of this cycle, we need to figure out how to use our body to swing the club down and through and not flip our hands down to the ball. What I like to do is set up to the ball like normal and keep my hands where they are and hinge my wrists until the club is parallel with the ground. Now it's important you check a few things. One that your hands really haven't moved from this setup position and two that the end of the club is not pointed straight up because that means the face is open. It's not pointed down towards the ground. Which means the face is shut. It should match your spine angle right at about 45 degrees. Now from this position, all I want you to do turn to the top of your swing without moving your wrist. You can see your hands get into a really good position at the top of your swing and slow motion. Start your downswing. You should see you should get in that same exact position as the takeaway and start turning down and through. You can do this entire motion without using your hands at all. Hinge it without moving your hands at setup, bring it to the top, down and through. Once you feel comfortable with that, start hitting a few punch shots. You should really start to feel that ball first contact. The more we can take the focus away from our arms and hands and think about our big muscles turning this club, the more consistent you're going to be and the less likely you're going to be to rely on the timing.
Summary
To improve golf swing consistency, avoid flipping your hands. Focus on body movement and wrist hinge to maintain club position.
