That's it, move it down, move it down, that's it. So now, to help you to do that, the lead arm, and this is why I talk to players about golf swing in relation to a car. Right, if you want to win every race, you want the best engine with the most speed that never breaks down. You want the best steering, you want the best driver and the best fuel. I've got all those, and I think I'm going to win every race, but I'm not doing. Why? Because the transmission's no good. So unless I sort the transmission out, I'm still not going to win the race. So I've got to sort the transmission out, or the linkage that links the engine to the steering. Once I've done that, perfect. So the golf swing, the body's the engine. What do I want the body to do in the golf swing? Rotate. Same thing every time. Same thing every time. I want it to move correctly every time. Right, the arm handling club movement should know where they've got to go to produce the shot. So that's the direction, and the brain's the fuel and the driver. So I've got perfect body action, got the arms in the right position, I've got the right, but then it's going all over the place. Why? Because the linkage or the transmission's no good. OK? So what links the body action to the arm handling club movement, and the brain's got to actually help that to happen? It's the shoulders. So if I'm swinging the golf club, this lead shoulder needs to be in a position here, and the lead shoulder needs to be in a position where I can move the club. If I'm moving the lead shoulder out of position too early, then the only thing I've got to hit it with again is the hands. So now, if I load the shoulder relative to the shot I'm trying to play, then I can allow the shoulder to allow the club to be delivered correctly relative to the shot I'm playing. So if I want to hit a fade shot, I'd be going, right, I need my shoulders, I need my shoulders up there, and I need the club, I need the club to feel. So from here, equal and opposite, load them up. I've hit a little, see, it's a little drifting fade, isn't it? And it just kicks like. So I've loaded relative to the shot I intend to play, and I've delivered the shot. So now, equal and opposite, I'm loading the shoulders for a draw, so as I go back, I'm loading the shoulders for a draw, and I'm hitting a little soft draw, yeah? And it even just tries to kick like, yeah? So all of a sudden I've loaded relative to the shot. So your golf swing is flat shoulders, trying to find a position with the arms, right? This, and the hands have tried to get a plane, and now from there, I'm moving my body out of position to then, it's only because you're brilliantly hand-eye coordinated that you can actually play the game. Because if I said to you, if I put a blindfold on you and said to do that, you'd miss the ball every time. But what we should be able to do is put a blindfold on me and move the club, knowing where the ball is when I've set up, and then close the blindfold, I should be able to hit your fade or a draw, all the time. Because I'm not relying on hand-eye coordination manipulation, I'm relying on pure mechanics and natural forces. Yeah. Okay. So this lead shoulder now, if I said to you right, how's this lead shoulder work to actually hit a fade, load it for a fade, just reverse the club like that so there's no weight on it. One hand? No, that's it there. So how are you going to load that shoulder for a fade? Get set up properly. That's it, now take the right hand off. Right, now load that shoulder for a fade, load the shoulder.

This video explains the mechanics of a golf swing, emphasizing the importance of shoulder positioning and body rotation. Proper loading of the lead shoulder is essential for executing different shot types effectively.

  1. The golf swing is compared to a car's mechanics for clarity.
  2. The body acts as the engine, needing proper rotation for success.
  3. Shoulder positioning is crucial for effective club movement.
  4. Loading the lead shoulder correctly influences shot direction.
  5. Understanding mechanics reduces reliance on hand-eye coordination.
  6. Practice loading shoulders for specific shots like fades and draws.
