Everybodys talking about Claude Code but Im surprised at how little people are using Claude Skills which is honestly the feature that makes the whole thing worth using Instead of reexplaining how you work every time you open a new session you write it down once in a simple markdown file and Claude automatically understands your preferred structure format standard etc for the output This video breaks down what Skills are how to create your first one in a few minutes and how to start building a system that actually works the way your brain works Save this for later Quick note Skills also exist on regular Claude but those are prebuilt things like creating docs and spreadsheets Claude Code is where you build your own custom Skills tailored to how you actually work So regular Claude gives you Skills that are essentially like system prompts at the project level Claude Code is where you can really get their full value claude claudecode ai

Everybody's using Claude code, but I'm surprised at how many people still aren't using Claude skills because it takes five minutes to set up and it can save you hours every week. So this is an intro to Claude skills for busy people. So what are Claude skills? Well, they're basically instructions that teach Claude how you work, your coding style, your brand voice, your processes, et cetera. So instead of re-explaining, here's how I want my meeting notes organized. Every time you start a chat, you write it down once as a skill. Now, every time you throw messy notes at Claude, it already knows your structure, your format, your standards. It just does it. And that is what separates the people who are really getting value from AI right now from everyone else. They're building systems through skills. So how do you make one? Well, open up any text editor, VS code, notepad, text edit, whatever. Write a name, a description, and your instructions just like in this bare-bones example. Then save the file as skill.md. Create a folder structure just like this and drop the file into it. By the way, you can create this folder structure manually or just ask Claude code to do it for you. You can just literally type something like this. It can even help you write your skills. Now, to use the skill, you just type forward slash and the skill name. Or you just do your work normally and Claude will recognize when a skill is relevant and load it automatically, which is the magic part. You don't have to remember your skills exist. So the more you have based on the context of your work, the more value you're getting out of using AI. And that saves an enormous amount of time. Hope it was helpful. See you soon.
