This Is Why Your Backswing Gets Stuck If your b...
There's no way it's that simple. Sean, all right, get in your address position. Okay. Stand up. Now, without moving your chest, without any rotation at all, show me what the arms should do to get to the top of the backswing. When we do what we see in a lesson? I want you to be the lesson taker. Yeah, so normally- Listen again, 100% of the golfers have done this. They'll say, okay, so if I'm standing up, I'm already kind of in my position here, so I'm just gonna move my arms to the top of the swing. They take their arms across their body like what looks like happens on video. So down the line, it would look like they go like that. Yes, that's wrong. 100% of the time, that answer is wrong. Now, in their defense, it's exactly what it looks like. Well, because of 2D camera, when you turn, everything's skewed when you rotate. So it looks like at the top of the swing, the golfer has put his arms like this, right? And wrapped them around the body, which is why a lot of golfers get this trail arm stuck behind them, getting in all these kind of bad positions at the top of the swing. And that's why a lot of golfers with any sort of mass between the shoulders or maybe not have the longest arms find it so difficult to have a straight left arm because I keep trying to get my hand across my body. It's gonna hurt my shoulder or maybe bend my arm. So there's a limit to that. Instead, what actually happens? Actually, the arms just kind of go up and across. So they go up, the trail arm comes up off the body, gets kind of level to the ground. They go up and across a little bit, and the club kind of sits up here between my elbows. And you show them that, and you can even show them in the address position, and they're still a little bit confused. Right, it's not an immediate buy-in because it's like, ah.
