I'm going to fix your slice in 60 seconds. Step one, get this lead wrist out of a cupped position. If at the top of your backswing it looks like this, your face is going to be wide open and you've just got to hope and dream that you time it up and that ball goes straight. We need to make sure that this wrist is flattening or even bowing a little bit. You can see from the cupped position to the flat position to the bowed position how much it closes the face and how much easier it is for me to turn through and release the club to hit a straighter shot. Now the second thing is, we've got to make sure we're not swinging over the top. If you've got a big over the top swing, you're going to create a lot of side spin, that ball's going to spin and still go right. So what do we do? We make sure that we've got the ball forward in the stance, we tip the shoulders a little bit and we try to swing up on the golf ball. Because guess what? It's really hard to hit up and wipe across the golf ball. The other thing that this helps with is it helps us hit it higher with less spin so we get more distance. So ball's forward in stance, shoulders are tipped, I've got that lead wrist that's no longer cupping, it's either flat or bowed a little bit and then I try to hit a high home run out to right field. If you do those two things, I promise you, your slice will go away and you'll start hitting higher, longer, straighter drives.

To fix your slice, adjust your lead wrist, avoid over-the-top swings, and position the ball forward. These changes will help you hit straighter, higher drives.

  1. Flatten or bow the lead wrist to close the club face.
  2. Avoid an over-the-top swing to reduce side spin.
  3. Position the ball forward in your stance for better contact.
  4. Tip your shoulders to help swing up on the ball.
  5. Aim for a high shot to increase distance and reduce slice.
