Here's how to present a vibe coded project in an interview without embarrassing yourself. My name is Tori, I'm a PM at Instagram, and I've had real interview situations where I've been asked to vibe code a prototype. This usually happens in the final round and it's replacing the case study. Typically, a company will send you a question and want you to vibe code or prototype a solution. So you'd start by approaching this exactly like you would a normal product case study. So that means start by identifying the problem and like why you're actually solving this problem. Next, you want to take a look at like all users that you could potentially solve for before picking a certain user segment and prioritizing them. Then identifying pain points those users experience before like prioritizing a pain point. Then when you get into solutions, instead of just like wireframing or like describing the solution out loud, you're actually going to build a prototype. You can use any platform you like to do this part. So I would typically use like Figma Make or Cursor in order to design your prototype. But your goal is basically to have a working solution that shows the end to end flow of the solution that you recommend. You'll also want to discuss like risks and tradeoffs at the end and also discuss like any potential routes that you explored or went down.

Tori Trombley shares how to effectively present a vibe coded project in interviews. Focus on problem identification, user analysis, and building a prototype to demonstrate your solution.

  1. Identify the problem you're solving before presenting a solution.
  2. Analyze user segments and prioritize one for your prototype.
  3. Identify pain points for the chosen user segment.
  4. Build a working prototype using tools like Figma or Cursor.
  5. Show the end-to-end flow of your proposed solution.
  6. Discuss risks, tradeoffs, and alternative routes explored.
