🎵💸The Sonos app Apocalypse: do you think they c...
The rollout of the Sonos app a few months ago has been called the app apocalypse. This is a case study that will be studied by business schools as a cautionary tale for years to come. Back in May, there was a planned app upgrade that went terribly wrong. All of a sudden the app was really buggy and some people weren't able to use their app at all. And there are thousands of angry Sonos customers in all sorts of message boards all over the internet. They're sharing their frustration and just begging Sonos to fix it. And just for reference, last year there were over 15 million households that used some sort of Sonos product. And one of the wildest things here is that they were still having major issues with the app even months later. And at the time of the app launch, they were really focused on the launch of their new headphones. So it seems that's why there was this rushed release that wasn't properly tested. And as if all of this wasn't chaotic enough, in the midst of them trying to fix everything, they lay off a hundred employees. And earlier today, they just came out with this list of steps that they're taking to try to amend the situation. One of the things they're doing is extending their home speaker warranties. And now it looks like around 80% of the features that were removed from the app have finally been restored. As a result of this whole app disaster, they've lost their customer trust, their stock is continuing to fall, and they're allowing their competitors to take more market share. I wanna hear from you. Do you think that Sonos is going to be able to bounce back? I'm Sami, covering all things Wall Street tech and culture, so follow along for more.
