This summer I gave myself a challenge…float acr...
This summer I decided to float across the most landlocked state in America. If you're not from here, this is probably what you think of. But four years ago I found something different hiding in the cornfields. I opened up this kayak rental biz on a tiny lake and it changed my life. And it taught me that adventures could really start anywhere. And take you anywhere. And I started meeting amazing people with amazing stories. Even here. And I realized something. This whole thing was way too good not to share. But how? Well this winter I cracked open two books. Micro Adventures. Short, meaningful, cheap, and local. Yet still rewarding. And it gave me an idea. What if I made this my biggest adventure year yet and I didn't even have to go far. So I made myself a challenge. One, take a mini water adventure every week this summer. Two, float as many ways as possible. Three, meet amazing people and capture and share their stories. And maybe it'll encourage you to get out there like it has me. But here's the thing. I'm not a filmmaker or even an established writer. And if I'm being honest, I fought this idea a bit. Doubted myself and it too. But it won't leave me alone. So I've decided to just start. I'm a few adventures in and finally ready to start sharing some of these sweet stories. Definitely a bit raw to start but here we go. Come float Nebraska with me and see where we go from here. Chapter One. Kevin, the Nebraska Surfer coming next week.
