When you pause, do you know what you do? You get rid of all the ums and the ahs. When you say um, ah, and use filler words, you're taking away from your credibility. You're taking away from your authority. You're taking away from your influence and your impact. And also when you pause more, you give other people time to think. And more importantly, you give yourself time to think about what you're going to say next. Most people go blank in the middle of a speech because they don't pause. Just pause. It's not as frightening as you think.
